British entrepreneur wants to launch a Padel Super League
Jonathan Rowland, founder of, among others, Redwood Bank, enters the padel company R3 Sport to capitalize on the sport's popularity
Jonathan Rowland, Redwood Bank's mastermind, told City AM about his latest project, R3 Sport, which focuses on the rapidly growing padel scene. R3 Sport is ready to manage top UK players, organize major tournaments with global talent, develop padel venues, and act as a distributor for well-known brands.
R3 Sports' ambitious roadmap includes launching a Padel Super League inspired by successful models such as the Hexagon Cup and Pro Padel League, which is expected to attract high-profile enthusiasts and investors.
Still a long way to go
Jonathan Rowland comes from a family with the property tycoon and Conservative Party political profile David Rowland.
Jonathan Rowland has received investments from private backers and secured significant credit opportunities.
The company has initiated the development of two padel clubs, strategically located in East and West London, to meet the growing demand driven by an estimated 90,000 padel players in the UK, which is expected to rise to 600,000 by 2026.
Rowland also acknowledges that there is still a long way to go. Britain's current padel infrastructure, with just 350 courts, will need to be significantly increased if R3 Sport's ambitions are to be realized.
