Padel goes to Church
Do you find it challenging to find peace and flow in your game? Do you often get frustrated by your mistakes on the court—or perhaps your partner's? Then, it might be a good idea to stop by a padel court in the Netherlands and get some sacred inspiration.
Here, businessman Roland Verheij has built a padel court in an old church in Arnhem, southeast of Amsterdam.
Taking advantage of the fact that Roland owns a real estate company, he acquired the church of San José, where religious activity has not been practiced for almost two decades.
Verheij's original idea was to convert the site and the surrounding gardens into a supermarket and housing.
As this project is on hold, the businessman has decided to set up a padel court to make the investment profitable - and to put his town on the padel map.
Like so many other countries, padel is booming in the Netherlands, among others promoted by former football stars such as Van Persie and the De Boer brothers, who are all padel enthusiasts.
The project in Arnhem was developed in collaboration with the booking app Playtomic. If you are interested, you can book an appointment. The price is between 45 and 50 euros for an hour and a half of play.
